Taxpayers in New York will pay $40.9 billion for the cost of the Iraq War through 2007. 7,437,852 people could have been provided with health care with just NYS' funding.

Man we would be free, would not have to stay at a job you hate just to keep your insurance, retire at 62 even if your wife is sick with cancer, so you can spend time with her.
But in the USA most people don't believe in good things they only believe in Hooray for me and F you, the only thing most people in the USA are concerned about is getting rich and then richer and richer and then richer. In the US god is money, they pray to god for money to pay the rent, electric bill, food, job, new house with $1500.00 a month mortgage, and a new auto with $500.00 a month payment, and if god didn't like you well to bad for you so no universal health care because that would cost $45.00 a week and god did not say we could do that.
Bunch of dummies, they think the gasoline prices will fall so they go out and buy 3/4 Ton pick up trucks with a big V8 and 4 doors and get 13 MPG in the city, a bunch of dumb educated people,

Not living in the US I can't speak from personal experience but living in Australia, we have a medical system which is funded by tax payers, I have to say that everyone, whether employed or not, should be entitled to health care. Of course, getting the latest cutting edge treatments is another story, but why shouldn't everyone be given the best treatment available? If it was someone you knew, who was mentally ill and couldn't work, maybe spent a lot of time living on the streets, would it still be okay for them not to recieve the care they need? We (here is AU) when on Medicare, have to wait for surgery and other specialist treatment but we get it and having to wait is a small price to pay.

Considering how many people and vets are being killed by the doctors here and then they try and cover it up what would be the difference. I mean go to the emergency room, should be called the waiting room.
Almost forgot how many are maimed for life due to "mistakes", just like the ones killed and it's fixed becasue "they cannot afford the insurance". I got to admit that the insurance lobby got beat on that one by the medical lobby, but I assume their payback was the Katrina zillion deal. "Its not wind damage, it's water damage, sorry".
Take care.

Yes to all of the above. We would be healthy, well educated and maybe we could even guarantee our work force a decent vacation every year.
An interesting side note, Sweden has more than four weeks paid vacation every year and numerous four day weekends yet the national productivity is among the highest in the world.

We'd have whatever society one would have when they are transformed into a Muslim state and forced to pray to Allah five times a day as the Islamists successfully complete their plan to rule the world.
Also...if people complain at how inefficient the government is with all things as it stands now...why in the world would you want to go ahead and put your health into their hands to boot?

We'd be all bombed out and looking like Baqouba or something. If we quit the fight it doesn't mean the enemy quits. Haven't you ever been in a fist fight or a street fight?
If you lose heart in the middle of it, your opponant will rip you to pieces. You want a perfect world and you think we can get it. Not in this generation.

Already been tried.
Clinton cut the military by 50% and had the audacity to call it a budget surplus.
He then sent his wife off to spend the money on Universal Health Care and she screwed the pooch with a plan that wasn't even readable.
The surplus lasted one year, 1996. He still talks about it like it was magic.
As is usual in history, whenever the US cuts its military, it gets attacked.
This time was no different. The rebuilding cost nearly triple what the military would have cost had it been left alone.
We have been paying for that surplus ever since and still no UHC.
Brilliant.
