Vast natural resources and being a ocean away from the troubles that plague Europe and Asia
Populated be immigrants that were more ambitious than the people they left behind
The mixture of cultures stimulated innovative ideas
An efficient economic system that was not stifled by inherited wealth and privilege.
A political system that was self correcting and produced reform when the economic system gave some groups too much power and produce a stability most of the time (except for civil war period)
The military power was the result of the success of the economic system
