I want to keep my life as free from complications and difficulties as possible, so what can I do to achieve this?

Life is complex. It's not supposed to be easy. Adversity makes you stronger. Granted, you can simplify where you live and what you have, but no matter what you do, you're going to have complications. But sometimes those complications and adversities are offset by positive experiences and the combination of the two makes for a fuller, richer life.
And when you're without complications, you're dead.

Don't have any credit cards. Seriously. Also just live with what you can get buy on and relax whenever possible. Don't let yourself get angry over stupid things. But you know life itself is not easy. Hard times will come. It's how you handle those times determines how your life will be when those troubles are gone.

The post that said no crdit cards is correct to a point, you need them but only use them when necessary and pay them off each month,,,
if a person enters your life that you have bad vibes from,,,get away from them immeditley...
be cuatious who your friends are\\get a higher education..

keep it simple - less is more - less stuff - gives you more time to enjoy yourself - dont' sweat the little stuff - keep a diary - everyday write something good that happened - no negative thoughts - everyday is a sunny day if you learn how to smile

easy doesn't equal happy. if you're okay with that then I suggest minimizing all unnecessary appointments.
