Inner Character, Because At Least Then, I Would Know They Was Lying, And So Would Others. The Outer Appearance Is Subjective, Meaning Everyone Has A Different Opinion. Tyra Might Say I'm Ugly, But That's Her Opinion, It Doesn't Make It True. Dominoe Might Say She's A Beautiful Ambitious Girl, Still Another Opinion. Now, When You Attack Inner Character, You Only Can Incriminate Or Substantiate Yourself. I Would Like To Think, That I Am An Upholding Moral Responsible Person, If You Slander Me, Then You Will Have Your Character Attacked Someday, By Someone Who Messes Your Rep Up Big Time. I Would Like To Think I'm A Clean Slate, But So Do We All, Any Expierenced Prosecutor Can Obtain Information On Our 'Inner Character' That Goes Back, Say 25 Years, That We Thought Was Buried, That Suddenly Surfaces, Making Us Look Dirty.

My outer appearance is not going to criticize my inner character, my inner character may criticize my outer appearance.
Your outer appearance CAN NOT criticize.
I think you are being pretty critical of people who seem to be trying to give you, for the most part, an honest answer.
READ your question - I think I know what you mean - but I think you are also mis-understanding some of the answers.
.....would you rather be criticized ABOUT your appearance or ABOUT your inner character , NOT " BY" OK, i get mistakes, but you are not understanding what people are really saying and then you attack them. ?!
what's up with that?

My inner character. My outer appearance, well, I am criticized all the time because I personally don't give a fig about trends, fashions, etc. So what? Criticize all you want, it doesn't mean anything...you don't know me, know nothing about ME....if someone knows me, and criticizes, then I may get angry, then turn to hurt, but in the end it makes me search myself for the cause of the criticism, and 9 times out of ten, I find a reeking darkness that should not be there. Its the one foolproof way I know of keeping myself as honest as I think I am with myself.

Well let's see:
Given that I took a lot of heat for about 15 years because of my outer appearance (not that anything changed later just that people get more subtle), I'm used to it. Yeah it sucks, but eventually it fades anyway. I don't want to be attacked on what's inside that really is all that matters--if that isn't true than we're one disfiguring accident away from ending it.
Criticize the outer me--yeah go ahead--it really doesn't even phase me any more. I don't regret anything though I'm a hell of a lot stronger for it.

Personally, if I had a choice, I would want to be judged on my outer appearance. For the simple fact that if you tell me that I'm ugly, it could be based off of you seeing me at first glance. If you judge me based upon my character that would mean that you have had a chance to get to know me. Although I disagree that your outer appearance can be changed which is why i LOATHE when people talk about other people for reasons they can't help.

I don't think my outer appearance is going to criticize my inner character, however my inner character may criticize my outer appearance.
If I were to be criticized for anything, I guess, I would rather it be about my appearance, and I'm sure I have been, and my character has also been criticized, which sometimes has been a lesson about something I need to change about myself, and have done so,. And sometimes, my character has been criticized when the person didn't have all the facts, and I didn't feel the need to change anything about that aspect of myself. And sometimes my inner character has been criticized and I didn't feel the need to change that aspect about myself.
Edited -We can change our outer appearance in the way we dress, and our physical being to some degree, loose weight if over weight, put on weight if under, and exercise, and then there's plastic surgery. We can also change our inner character. .if we choose to do so
and another edit - there was one time in particular that my inner character was judged without all the facts, and it really hurt because it was by my own sister and brother.
ok - I need to say something here - my outer appearance is NOT going to criticize my inner character. My inner character may criticize my outer appearance.
Aiden did not say anything about criticizing themselve.
added edit :Your question I think should read something like:
would you rather your outer appearance be criticized or your inner character? NOT BY your outer appearance or BY your inner character.
another added edit
I think what Aiden is saying is that some times when our inner character has been criticized it is because we have said or done something that has maybe hurt somebody else or we have said or done something that is not a good thing - so if someone critizes our action/ our inner character, then it can make us realize that we have done something that wasn't a good thing to do. I think - aiden is also saying they don't really care about the outward appearance stuff, so it doesn't bother them if that is criticized.
Just as I said, there have been things I have been criticized for that helped me realize some things about my self that needed to be changed. and I have been criticized for some things that the people doing the criticizing didn't have all the facts, and I still looked at my actions regarding this situation, and I didn't feel like I needed to change anything about that aspect. some times, good criticizim can help us change for the better.
aiden sorry if I mis-understood what you are saying.
and another added edit
Aiden did not contradict herself. but you are being pretty critical of people honestly answering your question. who are you to judge how they feel about it? I don't know if English is a 2nd language for you , but you don't seem don't understand what many of these people are saying.

my inner character
because criticizing other ppl's appearance is so shallow.
its not something that can be controlled, it just happens naturally so why do ppl go around pointing it out when there is nothing that can be done with it??
i especially hate it when ppl goes and changes their looks w. makeup, plastic surgery, etc that is so fake and it disgusts me.
but for inner character it can be taken as constructive criticism
if u dont believe its true u can just ignore them because you are the one who knows your inner self the most, but for inner character criticsm it makes u think from a different perspective of yourself, and often you can make changes for the better, or make yourself into a stronger person by recieving criticsm

This will vary for all who answer it, depending upon personal experiences and personality.
the most critical factor in determining the level of insult is credibility. if someone calls a supermodel "ugly," she will be no doubt incredulous, and say "whatever," completely disregarding the comment. But if the criticism is believable id est: a person who has always been told theyre ugly, or someone who has always been told they are immoral, great harm can be done on either end.
then assumign that the comment is believable, one might then weigh, which is of more importance, inner beauty or outre beauty? those with confidence, perhaps from lack of criticism of their outer beauty, will say that innre beauty is of the most importance, whereas those who have been taught to be insecure aobut their apperance, will have more of an aversion to criticism of their outer beauty.
for me, i woudl rather be criticized for inner characteristics, because i, growing up fat, have been teased relentlessly about my outer apperance, and i have felt reduced to the size of a dust mite by criticism aoubt my appearnace, whereas, on the infrequent occasions when people criticized my innner character, I had enough confidence to know that they were full of crap, and really knew nothing of me.

Appearance, what you look like doesn't make you who you are. Your inner character on the otherhand IS who you are, and they are attacking who you are as a person. On the other hand if they are attacking your character they may not be right either, in that case you have the last laugh because they obviously have no idea what they're talking about. Or..... you could be like me, I really could care less about what people think of me, I look how I look, and am who I am, if you don't like it that's just too bad I'm here to stay!

It depends upon who is issuing the criticism. If it is someone that I feel truly knows me, then pointing out 'areas of opportunity' in my character would be crushing (I would listen, though). Same for my appearance. If we are not close it would barely register.
I realize that doesn't exactly follow your Q. It just isn't about the what, but rather the who for me.
