Economically, they already ARE a superpower, mostly due to the high price of oil. (They have huge reserves of oil.)
Militarily, they have a long way to go. But as we are finding out, military power isn't everything.

Its anybody's guess. If they play their cards right they could. The US has committed economic suicide with the huge debt its run up paying for tax cuts for billionaires and a war, two wars, maybe even three wars. The US will be out of the game in no time. Too bad, it had a lot going for it. All Russia has to do is play the economic game sanely, unlike the US, and its military power and economic advantages including huge oil supplies will carry it very far. The US has also forced an alliance between Russia, Iran, and China, and that will be very profitable to all of them.

They've certainly got a number of things going for them. They have one of the most intelligent world leaders right now (Putin), who is leading them on the path to progress and success - may the next President be just as successful. They are securing business deals with certain Islamic countries, while the United States is blindly attacking and making enemies of them because of their petty "War on Terror". Russia has already suffered the horrible consequences of Communism/Marxism, and will not make the same economic mistakes it did back then - meanwhile, the United States is experimenting with dangerous socialist and proto-Communist thought patterns that will soon lead into poverty if not corrected soone enough.

Very funny, Max.
To answer the question, no, I don't see it happening any time soon, though "ever" may be too strong a word. Right now the situation between the civilian leadership, the military, organzied crime (and there's plaenty of overlap between those three) and the general population is simply too chatic. If and when that shakes out, we'll see. I genuinely admire the Russian people and Russian culture, but they've never had a decent government, and that's a shame.

To achieve and sustain the status of "Super Power" requires a robust economy. If they return to the failed plan economies as of the Soviet era then no they will not come back. If they have a free market society the country has a lot of resources to tap and anything is possible.

Only reason it was ever a Super Power was because it was the head of the Communist Sphere of Influence. Its people we miserable and all the money went to the top. Stalin was the murderer of millions with his miraculous, "five year plan". So no, if you consider powerful to be the USSR version of Russia. And besides China is moving upwards faster every year

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha no way. Russia is a former being of old self and they do not have the will to become it. Plus when the oil runs out, so does Russia.

Well, it wasn't Russia that was the super power. It was the Soviet Union (with a significantly larger population size and geographical area).
And no, I don't think the Soviet Union will any time in the near future.
It's time for China.
