Now that the Yankees added 3 pitchers and a catcher to their 40-man roster, their total is up to 39. They still haven't formally added A-Rod, Posada, Rivera, or Molina. Also, they are looking to sign Andy Petitte, Luis Vizciano, and Ron Mahay. The only player I can see them releasing is Carl Pavano. This would bring their total up to 45. I don't think players can go on the 60 day DL in the off season. How will they manange to have only 40 players after they sign these guys?

Actually there is another two or three trades in the works,,, so be patient and you will see that it will work out...

That is why they have spring training my friend! They will probably either trade or release a few players (Pavano/Farnsworth), Petitte may not want to come back, and the remaining extra players will be designated for the minors after spring training.

They only added them to the 40 man roster so they wouldn't lose them in the winter meeting draft.

They don't need a 40man roster til opening day after they send players to the minors and stuff

Perhaps they might put some of the older guys on the senior citizen's list or create one for them rotflmao.
