I purchased a very old singer industrial sewing machine(1940ish??) . I'm used to sewing with a bit newer model, so im not sure how to thread the top string! PLEASE help.

Chances are it has not been cleaned or tuned in a long time, so this would be a good time to have it done. It will never work properly if you don't. The technician can show you how to thread the top.

The best thing to do is contact the Singer Sewing Machine Company and ask for an Owner's Manual.

Here is a link for threading diagrams. When you get to it scroll down to Singer, look for your model (or one that looks like its close) then click on it. These are nice diagrams and will make it easy for you.
