EVERYONE knows that it goes on, and for many guys(and some girls) it is one of the main attractions. It is legal all throughout nevada, except the one place that people do it the most? Makes no sense. I am not talking about the morality of it, because there is nothing wrong with it, but more on the business side. Does it help the industry when it is illegal because guys get a bigger thrill?

My impression is that marketing of Vegas is done in close collaboration between private folks, and local, county and state government officials.

On the whole, it seems they all agree that it is better for everyone as a state, if prostitution is not legal in Clark County.

I can think of as many reasons as you have time to listen to, but here is one: It may simply be impractical to regulate the numbers of prostitutes and other sex workers in Vegas as the population is so large and transient compared to elsewhere, that it is not even worth trying.

So you will either have to continue to risk it, or rent a car to travel away from the bright lights big city.

You may not realize that real regular people make up the bulk of Vegas's population - I have family there and they don't and never have had anything to do with the casino industry - and, just like you, they don't want to see their town overrun by every runaway crack whore in America and all the trouble that represents. Those fools are by far the biggest voting block in the whole state, so go back to the first paragraph about politicians....

Not legal everywhere.

Nevada State law allows individual counties that are classed as "rural" counties to legalize it if they choose to. Currently the only counties in Nevada that don't classify as rural are Clark County (Las Vegas) and Washoe County (Reno).

About half of Nevada's other counties have legalized it, but there are currently only operating brothels in six counties.

The main reason that the voters of Las Vegas don't want it there is that it would be impossible to regulate.

Legal prostitution in Nevada can occur ONLY within a licensed brothel. No call girls, no streetwalkers, only places where you have to make a conscious decision to go and look for paid sex.

In Vegas, almost all the illegal prostitution that occurs is outcall from escort agencies and the like, and a LOT of it is just a front for robbery. Call a hooker to your hotel room, and you've got a pretty good chance that she or her pimp will rob you.
