I would not call Bush a successful business man, considering his oil business (Arbusto) did not find any oil. His academics leave a lot to be desired. So no, I don't think he would have made anything out of himself had it not been for his dad and the behind closed door support he got. He is a failure as President as well as an American. He sold this country down the toilet, got us into an unwinable war and is costing our children and grandchildren dearly. By invading he did the only thing he could do to destabilize the region by kicking Saddam Insane out and getting him hung. Saddam was a dictator, but that is the only way the minority can rule. We certainly did not want a Shia majority in Iraq, considering Iran is a Shia dominated country. Even Cheney said back in 1994 that ousting Saddam would destabilize the region, cause discontent in the country and lead to civil war. He held those same beliefs in 2000 during one of his Veep campaign appearances. In short, the Village Idiot from Crawford screwed up, took this great Nation along for the ride and you and me and all people are stuck on this merry-go-round of insanity.

George W. Bush was a failure as an oilman and wasn't that great of a businessman even with his family connections, so no he wouldn't have been a success. If Bush was born into an average middle class American family, he would have been in and out of rehab for his crack cocaine problem and would have burned out a long time ago.

That George Bush found success as a businessman only after the investment of Osama’s brother Salem and reputed al Qaeda financier Khalid bin Mahfouz is just one of those things - one of those crazy things.

Look what kind of businessman he was with all his political connections - that's the only thing that saved him.
P.S.
Many think his brother Jeb who was making some big headlines over Silverado Savings was the big reason we had that first Iraq war, get Jeb off the front page.

I remember reading about one failed oil business, but then if a successful business man can be an alcoholic and a drug abuser, then he would have a slim chance. Missing, also, is the intellectual capacity needed for success, as evidenced by the many "Bushisms" circulating the world. He would be at a distinct disadvantage if HIS writers ever went on strike...the man desperately needs a script!

Dubya was never really what one could call a successful business man. Aside from holdings in oil that were handed to him from family and a brief run owning a major League ball team, he has devoted most of his life to politics.

Graduate of one of the most prestigous schools in the country.... hmmm yes, he probably would have done okay even without being the president.

He did not do the greatest job as president sure.. but with that degreee alone it would not be hard to get a good job.
