Many older people still have the thoughts and dreams of a twenty year old. Their body is slowly aging, while their thoughts stay young. They like sex, drugs, rock and roll, etc. but the cumulative effect of physical aches and pains starts to limit their life-styles.

Then all of a sudden, the older person wakes up one morning and realizes "Hey I am old already". Growing old "ain't for sissys"?

I remember every last little minute or at least a good deal of it. I just don't know who that person in the mirror is. . .You see yourself everyday and just don't notice the little differences and then one day . . .or you run into someone that you knew in high school and wonder why they look so old. . .or you see someone on TV that is playing a part your age and you wonder why they look so old. It just passes faster and faster and your focus is not on your age. But I did and do fight aging. I'm not going easy so I remember each line and why I got each line. The only reward for all of this is a great maturity and so much experience that I wouldn't change for youth.

i still don't feel and look old yet I am 44 but look like i am still 22 so I guess I will still think that too when I hit 50 60 an even 100 years old if I live to be 103 like my grandpa did he was in great shape mentally and physically too but he died of a broken heart one year after my grandma departed so if I am like him I could live another 60 years and yet only maybe feel like i only age another 30 years during that time I might look and feel like 50 I think I would say the same thing when did I get old you are only as old as you feel any way! he was a fast walker too boy you could not keep up with him he was forced to retire by 3 different jobs when they found out how old he was he lied about his age for a long time and got a way with it too!

When you become old, your body and memory slow down. Old people forget more often...hence, "i don't remember growing older" hehe. Time goes by quickly, the body ages but the heart stays young ! or Many elderly will say this...hoping for a "wow you don't look that old" compliment .

Marci explained it best. It is indeed the ratios of years to age as fractions of one's life. I'm 50 and it seems as if only yesterday I was 25, funny thing, I don't remember growing older. LMAO!!

Because, once you pass around the age of 30, the years just seem to fly by and before you know it you are "old." I mean, when you are ten years old, a year is 1/10 of your life, and when you are 50 it is only 1/50 of your life. The years pass faster. Wait and see ...

Let's put it this way:

The youngest of my six children is nearing 18 years of age. I still think of all of my children as babies.....where did the time fly?

Another way of looking at it is:

I look like I've aged so much, but I still feel like I did when I was 18 (or 21, 25, etc.). Our minds may contain more knowledge, but we do not feel that we are older people...not in numbers, anyway.
