Some trans will allow swapping out the tail section......you might be able to put your tail on the newer tranny. A tranny shop would tell you for sure. It won't cost you nothing to call and ask....since you have the tranny it might save you a few bucks.
As for the other answer....a 4wd tranny does have a spline/tail shaft. This drives the rear wheels, the transfer case coming from the tranny has the spline/yoke that powers the front wheels.

Lets answer your question,
NO a 2 wheel drive transmission will not go into your truck and still give you 4 wheel drive.
Now the reason why is a 2wd trans. has a tail shaft with a seal that a drive shaft slides into. and a 4wd trans there is no tail shaft because there is a "transfer case" that bolts on to the rear of the trans that splits the power to the front and rear differentials
the "output" setup between the 2 transmissions are very different! wont work

It will work with major modifications. What do you plan on doing with the front driveshafts and front differential? Would easily cost you a few grand to make this conversion. There is way more to it than just putting a 2wd tranny in a vehicle that is set up for 4wd.

Have the tranny rebuilt.
