The second theme of the first movement sounds good both in both a minor key and a major key. That way, Mozart was able to give it in the key of Bb major in the exposition and in g minor in the recapitulation.

Composing a melody which equally pleasant in both modes is an unusual feat. The well-known b minor theme from "Swan Lake" is very lovely. That much is granted. That is the theme which the orchestra plays when the girls are changed into swans.

However, the orchestra plays the same theme in a major key when the girls are changed back into girls. Then it's not so hot.
