The right thing to say is probably, "ignore it", but that of course is easier said than done, especially if you are in school or something.
If you are in school and it is one person, maybe confront them and get their reason's behind saying the things that they are saying. They could be going off of something they heard from someone else. If you are not in school, I would say be the bigger person and ignore them or flip it on them, discrediting them and their info.
Worst comes to worst; If it's really affecting your livelihood and it is feasible; move(or distance yourself from the people involved). There is nothing like reinventing yourself someplace where no one knows you. Life is too short to have to deal with haters...

Ignore them and they will find someone else to pick on. Bully's thrive on responses. If you try to reason with them, bully them back, or anything else, they will just keep picking on you. Ignore them unless they threaten you with harm or you fear for your safety. Then you should make someone Else aware of the problem. Parent, teacher, Police, etc.
