I don't think North American's confuse the two. I think most of them don't know what All Saints Day is. Honestly, they don't know what Halloween is either. I am American, so I don't know how it is in other countries, but I'm not so sure people of other origins know what Halloween truly is. I don't know many Americans who know that there is an All Saints Day.

I agree to that.

Only I have to add that Mexico is also part of North America. Until recently, Halloween was not celebrated widely in Mexico, but then the thing was commercialized and many people in the country started to celebrate it.

In Mexico they have a local celebration which is called "dia de los muertos" - the day of the dead. It might be a pre-colombian habit that was "merged" with the "all saints day."

Peace-salaam.

All Saint's Day is a Catholic holy day and the majority of American's are not Catholic.

Halloween is a commercialized and culturalized holiday, so people know more about it, when people mention a holiday that concerns dead people at that time of year...they assume it to be Halloween.

Why do you think we do that? Halloween is the day before All Saints Day, All Soul's Day. We don't mix them up.

Because All Saints Day is when you honour the dead and some people think of dead people when they think of Halloween.

Also they are right after each other!

because they are too close minded to realize that they are two completely different events.

Perhaps if americans would open up to the rest of the world and stop living in their lil cocoons then they would realize there is more to this life than what is in their basic life!
