Wood glue has been used for over 4,000 years. The Egyptians used it for their furniture adhesive. It was made from hides.
Super glue was invented in 1942 and first sold in 1958.

Elmer's made wood glue long before I was born, but superglue only came out when I was about 10.

to the best of my knowledge wood glue came along long
before super glue. i,m not sure how the glues are made.

Well I am not sure about glue but I know that in colonial days the sailors used tar to seal the wood on the outside of the ship. In a sense it waterproofed it but it also helped the pieces of wood stay together too.
