A true Christian has the ultimate goal in their life to help others and improve their lives. Love one another, isn't that what life is all about?
Mom thought I made a difference in her life after she had a stroke. For 9 years I went to her house and fixed her meals and helped her with dressing, etc. If it was up to my brother she would have been in a nursing home.
My daughter realizes I am making a difference in her life because she has moved out 3 times and can't make it so she is back now. If she wasn't here she would be homeless.
Everyone makes a difference in someone's life whether they realize it or not.
Last week I went to the nursing home with a group and helped the old people play Bingo, talked and joked with them and gave them hugs.
I have helped a friend of mine collect and clean donated shoes to be given to people that have no shoes. And I help at a free dinner for people who need a meal in a nearby town.
I helped a friend of mine repair her house after a fire.
Helping others is so much rewarding than helping yourself, it just gives you a good feeling no matter how tired you are and how much your feet and back ache.

I'm a teacher so my whole profession is predicated on the belief that we can make a positive difference in people's lives and the nice corollary to that is that I learn things every day too. (I can be self-serving and self-sacrificing at the same time but a little more on the sacrifice side) Yes people like me.

I think I'm More Self Sacrificing. I give and dont take back because I always think there are people less fortunate than I. Making a difference in other peoples lives are more important.

You have such great ambition towards following all that is right and true, I admire you for that. You are right in noticing others' selfishness, but to dawn too heavily on that can only be counter productive. In reality there is no difference between "Self-Serving & Self-Sacrifice". If you try to "self-serve" you are really only hurting yourself in the long run. And by helping others in acts of selfLESSness, you are helping yourself. It is too bad that this world operates the way it does, but you can make all the difference if you just help one soul.

I would like to think I am making more of a difference in the lives of others. But, since we are human, I believe we always (maybe subconsciously) try to elbow our way to getting the best we can get for ourselves.
