Drink some chamomile tea, or go out and buy some tea called Throat Coat. It's got echinacea, it's really good for you (though it doesn't taste very good).
Other than that, gargle some salt water.

As your doctor, I recommend trying Halls Plus cough drops. Usually, cough drops provide only minimal relief, but Halls Plus are really good.
Two other things you might want to try is gargling with warm salt water, and breathing in some steam. Perhaps a humidifier would be a good purchase.
Avoid dairy. Some bacteria infections in the throat thrive on dairy products. Salt helps minimize bacteria infections.

i am a doctor. Don't eat or drink anything sour or salty. i will burn like crazy. But,It sounds like an apthous ulcer, meaning a viral ulcer on the soft tissue in the mouth. An ENT or your GP can verify it and if so, a medicine called magic mouthwash helps, but it will basically go away on it's own. But, it may take up to three weeks.

Nobody likes sore throats, but it happens. You can try salt and warm water, it'll kill the germs or you could even try warm pickle juice. That also kills the germs but leaves a terrible taste in your mouth, blah. If you wanna try with medicine, try Halls or even Vicks. When you brush your teeth before bed, use Scope or any kind of mouth wash. The mouth wash will kill the germs that play around in your mouth while you sleep.

Gargling with saltwater will help ease a sore throat, at least for awhile...
http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/why-gargle-with-saltwater.html
"The gargle should taste a little salty, but not overwhelmingly so. Begin with one teaspoon of salt per pint of water. Once the salt has dissolved, taste it. If it tastes like spit, add a bit more salt until it begins to taste salty."

Try a Goldenseal. It comes in liquid form and you can find it at the health food section of your grocery store or a health food store. Use a full dropper once every two hours.

It could be strep throat or you might need your tonsils out. Go see the doctor if it does not go away.
