no they don't and it's really sad. People take the holidays way too seriously now a days with making it so political. I heard the other day that bell ringers and santas can't say ho ho ho anymore because women find it degrading. I"m a woman and i don't find it degrading it's a trademark saying. It's getting way out of hand and it honestly pisses me off. I just don't pay any attention to it anymore... i go on celebrating the way i was raised with my family traditions. But it is very sad to think back as to what it was and what it is now.

It all depends on how you make it for yourself..20 years ago I did'nt have kids yet now I do and I really enjoy being able to share the magic with them. I am determined to have a nice Christmas because we are family..I think it;s a personal thing..there have some Christmas's that were wonderful and I will always treasure those memories and there have been some that were bad...depressing..but I did'nt let it ruin the magic for future years to come because I knew it was up to me to make it better and make it count..but I think I know what you mean..with people thinking it's just all about getting presents..and that's not it..it's all in how you make it!Your own personal Christmas and the magic that you can obtain from it

well i wasnt alive 20 years ago but in ways it does and in ways it dosent, I still think the holidays hold a special magic and it does put lots of people in happy dispositions, but I definately think that they arent like they used to be , nowadays everyone is so caught up in the gift giving and getting and we have all forgot what the holidays are all about, spending time with your family and celebrating the birth of the man who died for you and me Jesus Christ, so yes and no if you are looking for the short version

Not at all.....holidays to me now just mean a lot of running around to get shopping done, preparing special holiday meals and spending a ton of money....so it isn't exactly magical!

More and more does the holidays become mroe of an advertisment then days of gathering. It seems dull now, then again i was only really excited when i was a child. As you grow older you become more distracted by modern day issues and tasks- as opposed to children; everyday is a day dream.....
Miss those days.

It probably has, though I'm not sure, I've only been around fifteen years. More focus on gifts, more family problems (I know I have some of those), the economy getting worse (can't wait to see a new president), less family appearing; yeah, things don't seem to be getting any better...........

I think for the younger kids now-a-days, but as for us? Not really. It's because we've gotten older, and seen it all, and since we matured, it's not the same. No waking up mom and dad at 5 in the morning to open presents...well....maybe that still :)
And adults have gotten older, too old to put up halloween decorations anymore.

I can only wish they did! Everything is so commercialized! I use to love going out shopping with the girls on the day after Thanksgiving but now I would be risking life & limb!

Of coarse not! Now its waaaay too comercial. Now its all about waking up at 4:00 in the morning to buy somthin, and not apreciate the feeling of giving and sharing.
