You know like that guy who was sleeping on his couch a few months ago and some sick police came in and tasered him. Well if I was that guy I probably would have defended myself and killed them. What would be the legal consequences? I ask this seriously because I am prepared to defend myself if some stupid cops came into my home. Here was the story:

If they entered your house without first announcing who they were then you have every right to defend yourself. Wow, that's an amazingly scary story. I hope he gets a mint from the city and I hope those two cops get fired and have charges brought against them.

Well, if the taser works like it is described to in the story, then you most likely wouldn't be able to do anything except get shocked. However, on the off chance that you were able to move around, there's no way in hell the police would let you even LOOK like you were going for a weapon; they would shoot you with something far more dangerous than a taser. If you kill a police officer in any situation, the legal consequences are swift and severe, even if everyone who heard your story believed you were justified.

I'm pretty sure you would still go to prison for a while, the legal system usually sides with the cop unless there is some really good hard evidence that he tried to kill you.

Just be damned sure you are in the right, I wouldn't recommend shooting at cops. There are usually a lot of them when they bust in and they like to shoot back when that kind of thing happens. Juat ask the 90 year old Grandmother , living ain a seedy area of Atlanta. She thought that she was protecting herself from criminals busting in her door. It was the police, who had bad info and busted in her door looking for drugs. They gunned her down. 1 year ago almost to the day. Johnston , I think was her name.

Well there would be probably more than one coming in to the house even if yours was the wrong one and if you shot the first guy busting in the others would most likely try to blow you away and ask questions later.

most likely, you would be cleared of wrong doing, post humously, and your family would be able to sue for wrongful death against the department. Were the cops wrong, possibly, but only having one side of the story is like looking at half a movie and deciding what and how the story will end.

You would go to the chair. That story is unreal, and he will probably get a bunch of $$$, but if you assault or kill a cop, regardless of who's right or wrong, you will be the one to fry.

The governor denied a stay of execution of Mr. Smartypants today for the murder of police offices as they entered his home to arrest him. Mr. Smartypants was apparently high on narcotics and had threatened to kill any offices who entered his home.

Your *** would be in jail. Although it's not fair they are going to think that you were trying to kill the cop as oppose to it being self defense.

Not likely to happen. Unless he happens to be a nut-case, in which case, you still would not be justified. It depends on if he showed you his badge prior to pulling the taser on ya.
