I just found your original question.
the problem might not be the shade.
You might need to test your water.
Or the fish themselves like to eat the roots of some plants. I know they have completely up rooted my water lillies. If you have any koi they can be destructive. The PH in your water is extremely important, as is any chlorine content.
I am one of the lucky ones I have well water.
Pond water test kits are an important item for all pond owners. The ability to quickly monitor pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels, and chlorine is critical to ensure your pond water is healthy and your fish are not at risk of sickness.

The shady pond does not have to be a drab looking pond. Careful selection of plants can offer a great variety of leaf texture and color.

I have had a semi shade pond for years, I successfully grow water iris, pickerel, of course oxygenating grass, as perennials, and as annuals I grow water lettuce and water hyacinth, both of which thrive in the shade. I also grow mint at the edge of my pond and it grows out into the water. Go to your local nursery that stocks water garden plants and ask for help with your selections., and there are a few more plants that will grow in shade. You cannnot grow water lilies or lotus in the shade, they need sun. I also have fish and frogs. I am in zone 6b but that doesn't really matter with the plants I've mentioned., they will go clear down to zone 4. Around the edge of your pond in the shade, you can grow ferns and hostas.

The Canna is great. Thery make huge flowers all summer in full sun. Since you dont have full sun you can grow the plant for its foilage which comes in a variety of colors. This can only go about 6 inches deep. if you get cold (lower than the 10s every winter)(8a) dig up the bulbs and store in a cool dry place and replant after last frost.
Another is elephant ears. they like sun, but do okay in shade too. dont plant to deep and if you get colder than 5 z7b than dig up the bulb and wait till last frost.

Many pond plants will grow in shade, but none will survive for very long.

Depends on what Zone you're in, if the water is moving or stagnant, how often fresh water is put in, how many plants you have, etc.

Black elephants ears look great and grow easily in shade. Cut leaves off when they start to look droopy and new healthy foliage will appear.
