Obviously they mean something other than New York. I heard that they say it stands for something, but don't know what it is.

umm...I know it stands for New York obviously. I already said that but noone seems to be listening....I've heard Red Sox fans poke fun at it by saying it stands for something else.

Boston fans don't know how to spell their own names, let alone come up w/ funny little acronyms for other people's teams. Hell, none of them know what acronym means either.

Well, I'm a Boston Red Sox fan and I just call them by their name...the New York Yankees. I don't see any point in coming up with silly, sarcastic little acronyms. Its just a waste of time, but if it makes you feel better, then by all means, go right ahead.

Edit: C Note, that's rather funny. I know many Red Sox fans who know how to spell their own name. I'm a Red Sox fan and I know how to spell my name. Just because you dislike the Red Sox, doesn't mean you have to be rude about it. I don't care for the Yankees, but I don't insult their fans because I don't like the team. The only time I say anything is when I come across bandwagoners.

Alfie, you are so funny, NOT. How about the Angels? Now that's a sissy name for a baseball team. What kind of name is Alfie? Wasn't there a tv show called Alfie who was from Melmac? Angels win one World Series & all of sudden, they are a great team, well not really. Call the Yankees whatever you want, but I call them winners & a team that will always be a contender for a championship year after year.
