There is no direct answer to your question. The truth is relative. While I personally believe that the truth is the greater good, it all depends on the action of the person or people after they hear, see or speak the truth.

If the truth were accessible, then I'd say the truth. This being said, human beings are cognitive, and therefor associate cognitions to everything based on their experience, making real truth unatainable. So, the greater good becomes the clear choice.

I think that the greater good is more important. But being only human, limited from all the information in the world, I don't think any human being would be able to calculate what the greater good would be. So, basically, we're doomed.

this is one of those no-win situations.
if you tell the truth, you could screw up the future, but at least you'll have a clear conscience.
if you lie for the greater good, the future will be all right, but you could be riddled with guilt for the rest of your life.
may as well tell the truth, and look back knowing you did the right thing.

I think the truth is more important. The greater good can be
confusing since we all have different ideas about what
that is. It can lead to all kinds of trouble.

Both are subjective conclusions - what is truth? What is the greater good? - It all depends upon who is judging it. If pressed, I would pick: "The Greater Good".
