1.) Because Jeter is just a stand up good guy.
2.) It's taxes. Can you think of ANYone who hasn't made a mistake or fudged a little?
3.) In the current climate the government is the bad guy until proven otherwise.
4.) I think I know what generated your question and in my opinion there is not one singles thing wrong with Alex Rodriguez at all either.

I'm not a Jeter fan by any means, but this is making something out of nothing. If there have been tax issues with him, I'd put that blame on his accountants. Does anyone really think Jeter sits down every spring to fill out his 1040? No, he has professionals handle it for him, and apparently there are issues with what they've done.
I like to bash Jeter if I've got a good reason, but I can't hold this against him.

Why should Jeter get bashed it is a personnel problem and it does not affect baseball as a whole and first and foremost your are innocent until proven guilty in America and it has not been proven that Jeter is guilty, and I am sure he will pay his taxes and any penalties that are due if he is found guilty
