You're not a grump. Many people get moody during the holidays. All you wanna do is chill, eat, relax and be with the fam, but theres always something more to it. Go home, and greet everyone, but try and be neutral and not be in the mix of things so much- maybe then you'll go a little longer before you're tired of being there.

I feel the same way. That's why I'm staying put this year. I don't think of it as going home for Thanksgiving. My home is where I live not where I ustu live. And its really not worth the time or money to drive to another state just to eat a meal with family members. Than after wards we sit around with nothing to do but annoy each other. Maybe I'm just a grouch but I like to have my own space and be able to leave any time I like. But when I'm in another state at their house I have no where to leave to. So this year I'm making my own feast and am going to just enjoy my own company.

We are not going home this year for Thanksgiving or Christmas. I am a little sad about it, b/c I am used to going home. Its to far of a drive. 13 hours. Its not worth it when we would only actually be there like 2 days.

My mom's coming to visit me, so I don't have to drive this year. Make the choice that makes you happy, but consider your family's feelings too. Do you see them often? Is Thanksgiving especially important to them? Could you take the train or bus or something? Could you rideshare with a friend or family member?

Stay home then, but when it comes to that time of day when everyone else is sitting down to eat, you will feel sorry that you didn't go. I like staying home and making a meal, but I have family come here.

just be grateful that you have a family to go home to, I'm not as fortunate as you are.
