Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan blames President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for efforts to mislead the public about the role of White House aides in leaking the identity of a CIA operative.
In an excerpt from his forthcoming book, McClellan recounts the 2003 news conference in which he told reporters that aides Karl Rove and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby were "not involved" in the leak involving operative Valerie Plame.

"There was one problem. It was not true," McClellan writes, according to a brief excerpt released Tuesday. "I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest-ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice president, the president's chief of staff and the president himself."

This really isn't the big deal everybody is making it out to be.

Valerie Plame in no way was a James Bond-type CIA agent. But, leaking her name was definitely a crime, and whoever did it should be fired.

Bush isn't in control of what everybody is doing all the time. I highly doubt Bush said, "Go leak Valerie's name." The idea to leak the name probably came from Rove or Libby. It's doubtful that Bush was directly involved.

Surprising that he confessed to the lies and interesting that he is the first to directly implicate Bush. There can be no serious question that this was an act that harmed national security and involved treason. Good that McClellan is keeping the event alive and important to note that he is or was a strong and longtime friend of Bush.

People who tell the truth about this administration should watch their backs! This was a HUGE revelation, and not even the best conservative spinner can relegate the information to a low state. Bush must have flipped over this revelation! After he leaves office, the truth about lots of things will come out!

no longer lots marvel from my purple Wings, regrettably. interior the opener they went up 5-0 on the Senators, yet then have been given sloppy and enable them to lower back interior the sport by potential of giving up 3 objectives. They hung on for the win, yet i might seen too lots of that nonsense final twelve months. the three-0 win over Colorado grow to be extra desirable, yet what do you anticipate from enjoying a backside dweller? the real try would be their next recreation, against a valid team, the Canucks.

I am surprised. Totally flabbergasted. To think that George "I'll serve my country from behind the bar" Bush and Dick "Deferment" Cheney would do something so unscrupulous. Unthinkable.

Yes, I am highly shocked that McClellan would tell the truth.

He must want to be a Texas Congressman very badly toactually tell the truth. This suggests that even in Texas, it is better to bash Bush...
