Contrary to everyone else novice does not mean beginner. As the choices imply novice means some experience. As you have been riding for 3 years my guess would be that you are either a novice or intermediate level rider. Depends on actual experience (do you just sit on the horse while it's walking or have you been trying jumps and stuff like that) and how often you've been riding during those 3 years.

It means that the horse is not suitable for novice riders. I.e. needs and experienced rider. The reason people say this is that it would be unsafe for a novice to ride that horse. Not the the horse is bad or dangerous, but that it could be in the wrong (inexperienced) hands. An example would be my horses. The more advanced ones can literally flip out if someone rides them that doesn't know how to sit right, give the correct aids etc as they are so finely tuned to the rider. Other times, you get horses that when they know they have an experienced "take no sh*t" rider on them, they will behave, but when they have a novice on them, they will act up and be a total nightmare.

That means that you are new to something and have no experience at all.

I'm sure that you are a better rider than a novice, and have long since left the novice days. You are looking for the box marked expert.

good luck

a novice rider is a level. depending on how you compete though, if you do eventing like i do, i'm pretty sure the height is 3'-3'3" when jumping and the dressage tests are wtc. it's just a level.

As a beginner you only need to master the basics, i.e. stay on without falling off
