I wear socks a lot of the time when being intimate with a woman ... unless I am standing up - then I need extra traction ... so the socks have to come off.

Well if you want to have sex with socks on then by all means go right ahead.
But for me, I think being completely naked during sex is a LOT sexier. Wearing socks is a BIG turn-off for me.

When I was in the Navy (Many moons ago) blue movies & photos seemed to always show the guy naked except for his socks, perhaps it was some bizzare method of keeping it up or maybe the "stars?" were scared of getting cold feet.

Well, you will look and feel a bit funny, but the important thing is that you're comfortable. My girlfriend's feet, for example, are always cold. So if she would be happier leaving socks on that would be fine by me.

I don't like wearing socks in bed in general, so I don't. But my exgirlfriend always wore socks, and to be honest, it didn't bother me in the slightest. They were cute. =)

Only if you think her husband may come home early and you have to leg it a bit sharpish. In these circumstances may be advisable to wear trainers as well.
