It doesn't sound like an old lady name to me. I have a friend named Charlotte and she is a beautiful person which makes me see the name as that much prettier.

My granny (nan lizzie (i have 2 nanas; nana lizzie and nane felicy)) is called Elizabeth Charlotte but my lil cousin is also called Charlotte. Nana Lizzie is nicknamed Liz or Eliza by friends but is I were to nickname Charlotte I'd nickname her Lottie, Charly or Char but NOT Carlie. I love the name Charlotte!

I love the name Carlie, Charlotte seems like a more mature name that she will being to use as she becomes an adult, but while she is a child Carlie will be very cute.

Of course it doesn't sound like ONLY "an old lady's name!" It's actually a very common choice for infants at the moment (nearly top 100). And even if it did make some think "old lady," there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It simply means the name is a classic -- set apart from today's trendy, bubble-gum type creations that won't suit a nine-year-old, much less an adult. LOL And that's a huge positive in my book. ;)
