ok here is how you do this.

3x - 2y + 7x +4y
add the x's together:
10x-2y+4y
now add the y's together:
10x + 2y
theres your answer.

Ok, to do these, all you do is combine like terms. This means putting together all the numbers with the same variables, or letters. So you would just add 3x and 7x to make 10x. Then the subtraction sign becomes a negative sign for the 2y. So -2y + 4y is 2y. Your problem turns into 10x + 2y. Remember, always put the letters in alphabetical order. I hope this helps you!

yes you have to combine the like terms. Anything with a similar variable can be combined. So put together all of the terms with the x and all the terms with the y. Just like basic math, 3+7 and -2+4 and tack an x on the first and a y on the second. 10x+2y and if need be you can take a 2 out and have 2(5x+y)

just work with one variable at a time. start with the x's. cover up the y's with your fingers and you see 3x+7x. which = 10x. youre already half done!!!! and then do the same for y's cover up the x's and you get -2y=4y which = 2y

so a positive 2y and a positive 10x is 2y+10x.

2y+10x.

its easy first do the numbers with x as coefficient
so 3x+7x=10x
and then do the numbers with y as coefficient
so -2y+4y=+2y
answer is 10x + 2y
we cant add 10x and 2y because the coefficients are different
so answer is
10x + 2y

add the like terms. Start with the Xs
so add 3x and 7x, you get 10x
now do the Ys
-2y and 4y, you get 2y
so the new equation is 10x+2y
hope that helps!

3x - 2y + 7x + 4y

first you have to combine your like terms

let's start with "x"

3x + 7x = 10x

now "y"

-2y + 4y = 2y

soo your answer....

10x + 2y...

we can't add 10x and 2y because they are not like terms so therefore the problem is simplified

hoped i helped

Combine like terms:
3x+7x=10x
-2y+4y=2y

Answer 10x+2y

(simplify, not solving..)

3 apples - 2 oranges + 7 apples + 4 oranges
10 apples + 2 oranges

3x - 2y + 7x + 4y
10x + 2y

ie you add or subtract "things" that are the same.

add or subtract like figures here

10x+2y

3x+7x=10x
-2y+4y=2y
