Given how close they were in creating runs, even with Holliday playing better D at a more crucial position, I think Holliday should have won it. It wasn't an outright shaft, but if you check what each did the last week and month of the season--when both teams were fighting to get into the playoffs--Holliday clearly rose to the needs of his team.

However, counting the playoffs is just dim. It is a regular season award.

I believe so too. In the decision, they said that Rollins' comeback in getting the Phillies to the playoffs was the winning factor. Yeah...

Didn't Holliday lead his team from 4th place in the NL West to the NL pennant with a 22 game winning streak? Something doesn't add up here...

Holliday had far better RBI, HR and other misc. stats than Rollins. I was very disappointed with the call to give Rollins the MVP.

I do. Rollins had a great year too but how can you not give it to Holliday? He led the NL in batting average and RBI's. Not to mention he was the key player in getting the Rockies into the playoffs. I am shocked. Either way, great season for both of them. Congrats to Rollins.

I think Holliday may have been hurt by the perception that his numbers are heavily Coors-influenced. He hit .376 with 25 homers at home, but only .301 with 11 homers on the road. Certainly not bad numbers outside of Colorado, but his totals are obviously inflated thanks to the altitude.

That said, I'm still pretty surprised to see Rollins get the award. He certainly had a good year, though.

I checked the numbers, and that award appears to belong to Holliday. Must be the fact he plays in Colorado, not so much because of the ball traveling farther there, but because of it's location. Philly's a far superior sports town, despite its miserable run of also rans.

Rollins had a great season, but I think Holliday had the edge and should have been MVP. I think playing in Coors Field (still a hitter's park in voters' minds) may have hurt Holliday in the voting.

I think so. But you can't discredit Rollins, he was an absolute beast throughout the year. I just think Holliday was a little better this year. But if you take rollins and holiday out of both of their lineups then they would of plunged.

Well I think it was close and I think Rollins gets a bump from being a much more proficient fielder.

I think part of it may be that Rollins has got the credit of being a veteran and years of good play (fair or not).

Additionally if you compare Holiday's home and away numbers

you can see he definately got a benefit playing at coor's field.
