The FAFSA is just an application that has to be filled out PRIOR TO applying for student loans. It is used to see if you qualify for any Federal grants or whether or not you are eligible for certain types of Federal student loans (Stafford, Perkins, etc.) You still have to fill out a loan application and qualify for the loan itself, but they all require the FAFSA to be done first so they can see what category you fit into. They usually prefer your parents to get a PLUS loan and finance a good portion of your education, but if they can't you may still qualify on your own depending on what you are planning on going to college for. The fact that they are unemployed may actually be a good thing - you could qualify for more grants and/or funding with a lower income. Talk to a financial advisor at a community college who can give you more info than i can, but i hope this helps you a little anyways.

If you are living under your parents roof and are graduating this year, you will use your parents' last income tax information to apply for FAFSA.
I don't think any jobs you have/had matter.
What do you mean you don't qualify for scholarships or student loans? There are billions of scholarships out there, some are very specific, and some aren't. You can't say you don't qualify for any until you look. You can get information on scholarships at www.fastweb.com.
As far as your parents' unemployment, FAFSA goes by the previous year's income tax information. If they were unemployed last year, then it would make a difference. If your mom was making that kind of money last year, then there won't be much hope for financial aid. The reason is that your parents should have been saving for college last year, not waiting until this year.
You can get more information on the web.

The FAFSA goes by your parents income. I can relate because i have not gotten nearly the scholarship i needed to go to the college i want. But January 1, 2008 make sure you get on your parents about getting their tax work done. As soon as they get their w2s and whatnot back then the FAFSA NEEDS to be completed. I think that actual deadline to complete it isn't until like June or July but a lot of college's deadline to have it in is late January, early February, or Late March. Also additional scholarships are available at websites such as www.fastweb.com or www.scholarship.com. Registration is free and they offer tons of resourcefull college information and scholarships.

fafsa goes by your parents tax returns until you are the age of 23, whether you live with them , and are supported by them, or not. unfortunately.
The only way to know whether or not you qualify, is to apply . It's free to apply, and can be done online, so you may as well do. The worst that can happen is you will be turned down.

if you live with your parents they will want to go by their income, and they base it off of last years taxes. Call the school, and make an appt with a financial advisor, they will give you much better info than anyone here can.
