should she still go to the cops?

Possibly. It is a little late for the whole DNA and proving, but if it will help to bring closure...then she should do what she wants to do.

Also,there may have been another girl raped at the same party same time (not likely, but possible) and maybe this will help to make the others girls case stronger. (or maybe there was an attempted rape and this could help prove the case). Truth is, that she will never see anyone go to jail for her rape, but she may be able to help someone else get justice and maybe the authorities could help her to find counseling services too.

There is a thing called statue of limitations. I'm not sure how long it is in your area for that particular crime, but it may be legally too late. For a crime like this, time is of the essence. She should have IMMEDIATLEY gone to the hospital for testing, they would have notified the cops.

I think she should still go but most everything will go unfounded. The police and prosecutors will also look at this as if she really wasn't victimized since it took her a year to come forth about it.

Besides, if she was drunk and doesn't remember anything, how does she know she was raped. Maybe she told him 'yes yes yes, do me!' and never tried to stop him.

I am not sure what the statue of limitations are...but honestly there is nothing they can do. She has no evidence, seeing as how it has been a year (whereas if she would have gone to the hospital that night or day and let them do a rape kit on her there could have been some usable evidence) she has no suspects in mind or anything the most they will do is either take a report or tell her that they cannot do anything for her

sadly the majority of rape victims never tell anyone and that means that the attackers are free to do this over and over again

They most likely will not be able to help if she does not know who it was or remember anything. And she waited a year, that is a long time. I am sorry for your friend. Some people, ya know, just because a girl is drunk does not mean she wants to have sex. And that pathetic man, doing that to a girl that has been drinking, was he scared a sober girl might kick his butt.

A little late now. She would've had to go to the hospital so they could get a DNA sample of him in case a guy was busted later and traced him back to your friend.

I think it's WAAAAYYYY too late for that now..there is no more dna evidence or anything..she should've thought about that a year ago..my heart goes out to her though..no one deserves to be raped, i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy...

People get raped everyday and don't go to the cops. It was her fault that she was drunk and it was a year ago. If she doesn't remember a thing, what are the cops gonna believe? teenagers that are trying to get attention? no. I think it's kind of late to go to the cops dontcha think? And the cops base their work on more important stuff like threats and murders.
