I need a new power supply for a 2nd time. The last two went out, I have had this computer for like 4 years, but they just went out like a year apart from eachother. They were both 480 Watts. And its a ATX. I have CD and DVD drives, they both can write. Why do my power supplys keep going out? Do I need one with more Watts? Or What? What is a good inexpensive brand to go with?

One side of my CPU has a clear side so I can see inside my computer. It has a colorful fan in the middle of it. The air is blowing out, so I can feel it blow on me. Should it be blowing in? The people at the store put it on.
So if I get a 550 Watt, it wont make a diffrence?

480 should be fine. You aren't running anything special. I have similiar configurations that run fine on 350. something is burning out your power supplies. make sure the system is not over heating and the power supply has proper ventilation.

The amount of power you need depends on your cpu (is it overclocked?) gfx card, ram (overclocked?), and all the other components you may have added.

Ive also noticed that the cheaper power supplies that come included in cases and such are very easy to destroy. Instead of replacing 2-3 psu's you may just wanted to suck it up and spend a little more on a good psu.

Normally a 480w psu is more than enough though, so you definately want to figure in all the overclocking (if youre doing that) and other peripherals, then get a psu that supplies MORE than enough. Just make sure it supplies more than enough power, otherwise you run the risk of burning it out again.

Hm. That is more than adequate, with room for expansion. I always use Antec. Little bit pricey, but well worth the money. I haven't had one die on me yet, and my systems run 24/7. Like thunder2sys said, make sure you aren't overheating and things are properly ventilated. Do you have fans in the case? If you do, are they getting cool air, or do you have the case stuck in a cubby. Just some thoughts...

Here's a cheap but good one that would run cool and stable all day long:
