IMO Wisconsin for sure. There is so much more to see and do here. Not much going on in Iowa.
I've lived in south central WI my entire life...no complaints here. And there's nothing wrong with diversity (re: your comment about people from Chicago)...It would be a boring world if we were all the same. Why do you not like the people from Chicago?

Of the two states Wisconsin has more variety in terrain. It borders two Great Lakes, has flat land, really nice dense pine forest up north, glacial valleys out around LaCrosse, and even some decent ski hills in the central/northern part of the state. It offers almost all outdoor activities golf, fishing, hunting, skiiing, snowmobiling. Iowa on the other hand is pretty much the same throughout - fairly flat without much woodland. Wisonsin = dairy (cheese and milk) and beer. Iowa = pork.

I may have moved, but I have to go with Iowa! It's where I grew up and lived for 30 years. Just not a small town, the gossip is terrible. Otherwise it's the epitomy of innocence.

Before you make your choice, you may want to compare the two states' income, property, and sales tax rates and the employment situation. These may also influence your choice, especially if you intend to own real property, work, and shop.

Iowa... It has a pretty good background, big citiest if you are a city person, but it also has a good countryside.
