i always have been happy with Kenmoore or Maytag Washers and Driers.
But it really depends on what you can afford to buy and what extras you want them to have . Go and take a weekend and compare some at Home Depot and Lowes. Sometimes you can get some good deals .

We have a Kenmore drier that just won't quit. We've gone through several washing machines but that old drier still is going and we've only changed the belt for the drum several times many years ago.

Can't go wrong with Kenmore machines from Sears. We currently have a water-saver front loader by Frigidaire which was very reasonably priced, a simple machine without the fancy computer stuff that can go out and cost a bundle to fix. It's good enough for us. Doesn't have all the whistle and bells, but it does the job. We returned to the local appliance store and bought that simple machine which happened to be on sale after being battered by the problems that our Maytag Neptune was giving us. The Maytag's complicated computer system malfunctioned. That machine was much like owning an expensive foreign car. When it works, it's beautiful but if it needs servicing or repairs, be prepared to pay.

I love my whirlpool cabrios. I can wash my large basket of towels and dry them all at one time instead of 2 or 3 loads. They all come clean and dry. Having teenage girls this is a big help for the linen closet seems to always be in the basket.
