I have a legitimate work from home job. My job consists of placing quality assurance calls, rating and giving feedback and then I upload the files to a site where our clients can review them. (My employer is not hiring)
On my profile, the website listed has work from job and companies (its free). The are phone jobs (customer service, order processing, answering service and other types), writing, typing, transcription jobs etc. Many of the jobs do not ask for a fee. The companies will want you to have skills and may ask that you have high speed internet and that your pc meet their specifications. The companies will either hire you to be an employee or an independent contractor. You will not get rich with these companies but can earn a decent paycheck.

Hard to say, but, you have the right attitude as what to expect.
If, you know something people may be interested in, write about on-line and sign up for Google Adsense. The link should explain it easy. It not hurt to try and in time you never know. Heck, how I see it, even if you get to a point you only make $25 a month, that a free $25. Just write when you board to get some pages setup on the Internet.

Most people may never make over $5 a month if anything at all. But, there are those who made a real commitment and they may have 1,000 pages of information (Takes time) and they make some eye opening dollars, just do not expect it overnight (Which I feel you don't from what you say).
