I understand that people in Europe and Canada especially, see Americans as stupid, obese, violent supporters of George Bush and the war in Iraq. Do they understand that there are Americans who do not support the president and what he is doing and we are not all obese and violent?

I know I know. I hope Americans also know not all Europeans and Canadians think that all Americans are obese, violent and support Bush.
Some Europeans I know and Canadians I think are stupid obese and violent as well. The point is people are people. I understand you want to ask this question but when people generalize including if it's about Americans that says more about them than about those they are generalizing about.
Europe and Canada are overrated. It's not all well informed kindhearted fit intellectuals here either. Again people are people, it is what it is.
I'm also 100 percent sure there are many smart Americans. I see them here every day

to all you who have answered this question opposing the argument, you are the reason why so many people do think of us true Americans as idiotic... I mean does it really take a Canadian to have to stand up for those of us who truly do care what other people and countries think of us... as an American soldier getting ready to go overseas i know i hope to show off my will and mental power against the Afghans i will be fighting against... thank you my Canadian friend

The world is not my barometer on whether I'm smart or not. Most nations are, in my opinion, a few disasters short of a catastrophe. America has 120 races living within her borders in relative peace. These other nations who are "so smart" cannot live amongst themselves of the same race.
America's 120 races is what makes us great. All others should watch and learn.

The world does not listen to the smart Americans - they only listen to the ones who say what they want to hear.

I never voted for Bush either. But, they must understand that both elections were fixed, and the first one actually stolen. We don't all support him and his policies. But, way too many people are just uninformed, because of who owns and controls the mainstream media. *sm*

I am an American and I think most Americans are stupid and brainwashed, and I have no problem calling myself an elitist.
But there is too much antiamericanism in the world. They only hear what they want to hear. They want to demonize us.

We do, but you did vote for Bush twice.
Did you know - a 2004 UK poll of the year's comedy highlights had Bush at number 4, ahead of our most popular TV programmes.

I was in Europe less than a year ago. None of the people there viewed me with the contempt that the average mindless liberal will suppose they do. It is all just a bunch of BS.

I think you are illuminating a small minority of US citizens who are, at the same time, slim, peaceful AND intelligent.
