I might go to Virginia some time and want to see some Civil War battlefields and gravesites. If you can tell me about anything thats great, or give me any websites i'd like that very much.

P.S. this is only in Virgina and if more than one please make sure they are close together.

For all intents and purposes, the entire grounds of the Commonwealth of Virginia has some connection to the Civil War.

Let's start with Richmond. Richmond National Battlefield Park protects properties in and around the city. There is also the Museum of the Confederacy to supplement your tour.

Head south to Petersburg. The public civil war sites are held by the Petersburg National Battlefield Park System. There is also Pamplin Park/Museum of the Civil War Soldier to supplement your visit.

From Petersburg, take route 460 to Appomattox. Take the side trip to Saylor's/Sailor's Creek, the location of the last actions fought by the Army of Northern Virginia. Then head on to Appomattox and view the location of the surrender of the army.

Fredericksburg has a nice civil war site also. Tour old down Fredericksburg for some neat shops and restaurants. Just don't drive around route 3 during rush hour.

Swing over to Winchester, then drive south on either I-81 or Route 11 and follow all of the signage. Make sure you stop at New Market.

Good luck!
