No software is required! LOL! You simply splice one image into the same background of another image. That's assuming you're using film or video. Now, assuming you are doing your editing with digital files, then you would use software. Any software from PAINT (that's already on your computer) to the hundred buck Adobe versions will do the trick. If you play around with any editing program enough, you can get it to do what YOU want it to do, instead of just what IT wants you to do...lol You could crop the image of yourself out of a 'scene' and then copy that image to paste into another scene. Weither you're using film or digital, using a 'blue screen' will increase the effectiveness. However, remember the days of say, The Brady Bunch when the mother played herself AND her sister or Bewitched when Elizebeth Montgomery played sam and sam's cousin. They didn't use blue screen back then but it still looked real just simply splicing it in. They would always film the backside of someone else's head to be the backside of the head in the shot to make it 'appear' to be 2 different actors when it was really only one. sorry my answer is so confusing and jumbled, i'm still waking up from my nap ;P
