Who thinks this stock will eventually come back?

It breaks my heart to see what has happened to this company. Management screwed up very badly, and I will be surprised if they survive. Perhaps they will get taken over. That is probably the most optimistic outcome.

I do not know if ETFC is a good buy now.

I do know that the fact that it has fallen 30% in two days does not make it a good buy.

Earlier this year the stock traded as high as $26.08 per share. After it fell 30% from that level to $18.26 per share it was not a good buy. After it fell another 30% to $12.78 it was not a good buy. After it fell another 30% to $8.95 it was not a good buy. After it fell another 30% to $6.26 it was not a good buy. After it fell another 30% to $4.38 it was not a good buy.

At $3.80 I may or may not be a good buy, but it is definately a high-risk choice which has a chance of a high return.

No. It is a bad buy. Who knows where the bottom is with the company. Wait for them to finally post a nice quarterly gain. Once you get there, you will have a better idea of where the bottom is. Right now you are just guessing and taking a huge gamble since they have more of a chance of declining more

No, it is a bad buy. It will be like Merrill Lynch and some others and most likely will fire their CEO on the theory that, having hit an iceberg, changing the captain will save the ship. Truth is, the fall in price is due to hitting the iceberg and its not going to fix itself soon. Ditto all the bank issues and mortgage issues.

It may come back someday, but how much pain can you take until then?

E-trade was hammered due to investments in sub-prime mortgages. There are still questions as to how much more of a writedown they may still have to take. This one is very risky.

Will it come back? I think it's possible.
