you need to find the time before you can find the acceleration. HELP

Use the relationship

x = (v^2-v0^2)/(2a) where a = acceleration, v0 = initial speed, v= final speed and x = distance over which the acceleration takes place (v goes from v0 to v)

Re-arranging:

a = (v^2-v0^2)/(2x). Set v0 = 0

a = v^2/(2x) = 3.6x10^5 (m/s)^2/(1.8 m) = 2x10^5 m/s^2
