No way! It's not the Pats responsibility to keep their own offense out of the end zone. I'm no Patriots fan, far from it. I love the Cowboys and hated watching them lose to the Pats BUT I love the game and we should feel lucky to be around to see a team dominate the game like the Patriots are. We may be looking at the best team ever here. I say if teams don't want em to run it up, they should find a way to stop them. These guys are pros, if they can't take getting hammered then they're in the wrong line of work.

He doesn't run the score up, he's just making sure the other team can't have some magnificent comeback and win. The record comeback is 32 points, and that will be broken sooner or later. Why, just a few weeks ago the Dolphins of all teams scored 21 second half points against the Patriots. Why risk it?

No, because there is always a chance of a turn around. There were some games where 21 points were scored by one team in 5 minutes. For instance imagine a kickoff return for a touchdown, followed by an interception for a touchdown, followed by a fumble recovey and a touchdown pass.

No. It isn't a penalty to try and score.

That being said, the argument that Bellicheck gives is BS. He says "I don't want to just put points on the board, so I give them a chance to stop us."
If you don't want to put points on the board, why are you throwing to the endzone instead of running off tackle?
Also, this argument that the Pats should still be going for it on 4th down when up 35 points because it is there job is B.S.

There are many unwritten rules of sportsmanship in sports, and not running up the score is one of those rules. It isn't illegal but it is classless.

Bellicheck is a cheater with no respect for the integrity of the game, so it is little surprise he shows no respect whatsover for opposing teams or coaches.

That's all well and good until he runs into a team that shows his team the same lack of respect and takes out Brady's knees after a play when he tries to throw another 4th down TD up 45 to 0.
If only Buddy Ryan were still coaching the Eagles.

I think the Patriots offense should fumble intentionally and "pretend" to try to stop their opponent when they run the "fumble" in for a touchdown.

I am very concerned that the Patriots are hurting the feelings of the millionaire opponents that the Patriots defeat each week.

The Patriots are very cruel unfeeling people and I think that its time that Bill Belichick be taken out and beheaded.

Why would the so called "running up a score" even be a penalty. Last I checked the object of the game is to score. If a team is unable to stop a team for scoring, should they be penalized for being a poor team?
Maybe they should loose some draft picks or something.

NO WAY.... And I hate the PATS!

I am also a former Div IA ballplayer. If you want to stop the Pats from scoring, then STOP THE PATS FROM SCORING!

I think the responsibility of the Patriots offense is to score points and the responsibility of the defense is to stop them. There is no mercy rule in professional sports.

No. If you don't want him to run up the score, stop him.

Karma will get him. He's gonna keep playing Brady in a blow out and some lineman will roll up his ankle, putting him out for the rest of the year. Does NE even have a back-up?

Well I believe that the point of football is to score points, I could be wrong, it is the defense's job to stop the offense from scoring. so shouldn't the NFL fine opposing defenses for not doing their job. That sounds as ridiculous as your question.
