I don't. While Allison has a few accepted variant spellings - certainly Alison and Allison are equally valid, and Allyson/Alyson is common - the "u" strikes me as a touch on the ugly side. (I realize it spells "sun" but I don't think that helps.)

While I normally dislike creative spellings, the one version of Allison that's always stayed with me is Alicyn. It was concocted to honor the baby's grandparents: Albert and Cynthia. I've always been quite fond of that version, and if you're set on an interesting spelling for Allison, Alicyn is far mor appealing than Allysun.

Best wishes!

I think that it's a great spelling for someone who doesn't speak English and is learning via the phonics program.

That being said, it's demeaning to your daughter's intelligence to spell her name so absurdly. If you like the way the name sounds, just spell it Allison. If you like the way it's spelled, go join the Aiden/Jaden/Caden/Haden crowd.

Good lord no! Not only is Allison a popular name, but you just butchered it by spelling it "Allysun".

No. I personally dislike any 'different' spellings. The poor kid would spend her whole life correcting people. If you want to call her Allison, call her Allison.
