I live in a racially segregated area in Seattle, and I can drive about 5 minutes from my house and find nothing but Projects that are full of BLACK PEOPLE. This makes me so angry. This racist government has a so called WAR on Drugs that is directed only towards my People who sell CRACK, I've never seen a rehabilitation commercial to help people addicted to crack. However I've seen countless "Meth" commercials trying to help White people who are addicted to it, it's only because they want to help their own people. Why can the Government spend Billions of Dollars on Wars against innocent Arabian people but not to help Black people out of Poverty and from killing each other.

I know that in order for someone to receive help form another, they have to be willing to change themselves. I know that this will never change though until Blacks see that the Government and its enforcers (police) actually care and want to treat them as equals.

I can understand your frustration with what you see. Though I think you are too simplistic in your thinking about it. Saying the government is to blame is easy. You're talking about a complex social issue. A lot of what you're talking about can be changed with personal responsibility, accountability, and education. There is no escaping those factors.
I remember reading about a young black man in high school who was gifted but was taunted and bullied for it by his classmates. It was so bad that he didn't attend a ceremony in which he was to receive a prestigious award. A teacher remarked that his classmates were like crabs in a bucket. When one tries to climb out the rest pull it back in. That is a very debilitating attitude. Unfortunately this attitudes persists in different areas, people, and neighborhoods. The majority of people in this world do not strive for anything more than to live for the next day and fit in. It's hard to make social progress when people have little to no expectations and cannot see the future reward.
It is good advice to see if you can help change what you see by getting involved in your community.

What Are You Doing To Challenge The System??
Its Not About Race, Its About Solving The MASSIVE Drug Problem In America. Seattle Isnt Racislly Segreated..Thats Illegal. It One Again Depends on Finance, And Sadly Its The African Americans Who Appear To be The Poorest In Some Areas...Not All.

Seattle is not racially segregated you fool, it is financially segregated. If you have the money you can move any where you want and that's a fact. My suggestion is that you get over the mentality of always thinking the government has to do something for you or anybody for that matter. Don't depend on them, depend on yourself, worry about yourself. You can not do anything about people doing drugs and it is not your problem, let them ruin their own life. Best thing you can do is be successful, that way when black youth see you they see a successful black guy who is drug free and living good. That way they want to be like you.

Oh please, I am black and don't agree with you one bit. Those peope in the projects should stop trying to expect handouts, thats why alot of black vote democrat. Trust me, the government cares about the blacks who are successful because they actually worked for what they have and stopped blaming the government for their problems. Some black people need to wake up, I am not saying racism does not exsist, but as far as the issue you speak of, it is the year 2007, black americans have so many opportunities to better their situation in the US, but how many take it? Josh P gave another great answer, I am very ambitous, speak well and have so much going for me, and have been taunted all my life by some of my black peers. If there is going to be change, that behavior needs to stop and the REAL role models: the black lawyers, doctors, etc should be idolized, and not stupid rappers and athletes.

The government is not racist first of all. How many scholarships are given out for blacks?? How many blacks are getting government support?? And you want something done yet you are the one segregating yourself. You refer the blacks as "my people." Here in America we are all Americans. YOU are obviously the one that does not accept that, NOT the government. And if you want the blacks to get out of the projects, maybe "your people who sell crack" should get jobs.

i do no longer think of a nationwide holiday or apology could heal the wound of slavery. i've got self assurance there should be a communicate between the two races, the place the two properly known what they experience and why. I did'nt meet alot of African people who have been stunned by making use of rev. Wrights comments. i think of the marvel got here from white people who have been out of touch with what African people have been feeling.

They're too busy giving you handouts and paying for your illegitimate kids. How about you have some accountability and not do drugs and kill eachother. When was the last time you heard about a driveby in a trailer park? Maybe if you stop complaining and try to make something out of your life things won't seem so bad. You need to stop with the victim mentality. Is the quality of life better in Africa?

Black people need to learn to help themselves. There are plenty of programs aimed at helping people with different problems of ALL races, not just white people. Plus, you seem to forget how many black senators, congressmen, mayors, governors, etc. we have. Are you saying they hate black people, too?

Oh, please, please Mr. Mean-Old-Government!

Please give me money so I can live the lifestyle all the hardworking people who went out and got educations and good jobs do!

It's not MY fault I was born into poverty and do not have the intestinal fortitude to better myself! You OWE me everything I am unwilling to work to obtain.

It's not my fault I got pregnant at 14 and now have 5 kids at age 21. And it's not the fault of my childrens father that he disappeared as soon as I got pregnant and won't hold a job in order to avoid child support.

This is America! And if you can afford to protect me from terrorists, you can afford to give me everything I want.

YOU MAKE ME ILL!

I understand what you are saying, I think if you are passionate about this problem in your community then you need to start to do something about it. Once you start to do something and you get others involved then you could get government funding. We can complain and not do anything or we can complain so loud the whole world hears us and helps us. Its up to you.
