rollins' defense and personality is wht gave him the edge over holliday - i personally find those more important in a MVP. yes, they are both GREAT offensively, holliday had an edge on that. that edge was wiped away when compared with rollins' defense, and his personality won it for him

and also the fact the the phils had a lot of injuries and rollins still managed to keep his promise and carry the team. the rockies were SO solid that there was a lot less weight to carry

I like Rollins hes a class player and a hell of a shortstop. But I cant help but think Holliday deserved it. Holiday had the offensive numbers and was surrounded by other high caliber defensive players so I think he was overlooked. Rollins is a great SS, but that may have helped him edge out Holliday. But being the Rockies fan I am still gotta go with Holliday.

I am so glad that Jimmy won. I thought it would be tough to beat Holliday, but he did it. Someone else posted all kinds of stat about Jimmy and the numbers are impressive. The guy didn't slump this year and as people said, the Phils were hit with injuries to major players throughout the year and Jimmy kept pulling the team behind him.

Good for you J-Roll!!

Absolutely fantastic! They got it right!! The most valuable player means just that. Rollins was definitely the MVP for the Phillies and the NL.

Without his glove and bat the Phillies don't win the division. It's as simple as that. Great choice!

I live in Reading, PA, home of the Class AA Reading Phillies. (Eastern league) I saw Jimmie Rollins while he was in Reading.

With Minor league baseball, you see a lot of players, but there are those who you feel will definately go on to greatness. Seeing players like Jimmie Rollins go from a minor leaguer who needs to work on fundamentals turn into MVP, well, you can't beat it.

taken aback? no longer precisely for a guy who hit .296, with 30 Homeruns, and ninety 4 Runs batted in. Now i'm no longer taken aback with those numbers, yet i'm taken aback that he beat out Matt Holliday. i presumed for particular Holliday might win in a lengthy run to Prince Fielder, i did no longer even think of Rollins might end interior the impressive 2. even regardless of the indisputable fact that Rollins deserved it yet Holliday achieved plenty extra advantageous.

It's about time he started getting recognition. For years you'd always hear sports announcers talking about what a talented and hard-working player he is but they never came up with the votes. First the Glove Glove and now MVP. Congrats JRoll.

I'm happy to see him get the recognition he deserves. He is often forgotten in discussions of great SS, let alone ballplayers.
