I love romance novels. The idea of love, true love, just fascinated me... lol.
I love hardcore romance movies...... with tragic endings and sacrifices to be made, and loud orchestras... everything about loving but having to sacrifice something.. i love it
I know i probably sound weird, but i love painful movies. I love a book or a movie that just touches my heart, whether it be the script, or the character. When i cry during a film, i just love it. I love the thought of a deep, beautiful story. When i watch a movie or read,i want to be transported to another world. I want to cry, laugh, and just go through a world of emotions.
I am a die-hard romantic..lol

I love older romance novels like you. My favorite is Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility). I also love Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. I also love romantic stuff from way back, like Tristan & Isolde, Romeo & Juliet, King Arthur & Guinevere, legend type stuff. Now those people knew romance. I feel you.

Action/Adventures, Dramas, and Comedies, and fantasy.
I also like "sad" movies too, as long as it turns out okay in the end. For example, in "The Pursuit of Happyness", some parts nearly brought me to tears, but the ending just made me love life.
I love any historical movie too, as long as it's medieval/ancient times. Gladiator was superb, Kingdom of Heaven was a great movie too.

I like psychological thrillers or legal thrillers for books.
Same for movies, but my enjoyment is more broad. I'll watch pretty much anything (I am not a fan of mob movies or war movies or westerns - although I am going to see 3:10 to Yuma tonight). I like chick flicks - love romances, but more of the cute happy-ending kind.

For movies, psychological thrillers, horror and any tim burton or quentin tarantino (not quite sure how to spell his last name) movie.
