If you don't think a fetus should have the same rights as everyone else, tell me why.

I got pregnant at age 15 and my parents adopted him.

I got pregnant at age 18 and aborted him.

I got pregnant at age 21 and kept him.

I know more about this than most of you. I just wanted to prepare myself for what those who for it, would say in defence of it.

I can tell you it is the utmost selfish thing a human could do.

How, in any way, is the rape or incest the fault of the unborn, why should the unborn suffer because of somthing the rapist did?

If a woman wants to get rid of it, fine, drop it off at a hospital or police station, this is a legal way to give up your child now.

**** if someone were to find out they were the product of rape or incest, it would be bad yes, but i guarentee that there are far worse things to worry about now days, like people legally killing babies.

and hey, if you think the idea of that would be scarring, think about your parents having SEX to make you, now THATS mentally disturbing and a reason to want to kill oneself! ;)

good point though, but i bet if you asked the fetus, "hey, do you want to live, or die, it would choose life no matter HOW messed up the parental lineage.

coconut--- you don't know what you're speaking about, AMERICA allows late term abortion, do you know what that is!!!

pulling a 8 mo. old unborn child halfway out of the birth canal, sliting the back of the skull open, and vacuuming out the brains.

they feel this and screm for help and try to cry, DID YOU KNOW THAT?

ember halo---- if a baby was comming at you with a freaking hand granade, you would shoot it rather than die, you need to learn that some things are just going to happen, the woman might die, and so might the baby sometimes, that is a price i would have to pay rather than kill a baby.

you would totally shoot the baby, wouldn't you?

I can't answer from a pregnant womans point of view.
But, from my viewpoint, with so many people wanting a child,
that can't have one. I would think, it would be better to adopt a
child out, to a happy family, than to be aborted.
I grew up an orphan, and am still glad today, that I was not
"aborted."
I have a wife of 38 years, two grown children, and one Grandson to "prove" it. <}:-})

A year and a half ago, I went to my normal doctor for a visit. I had a pregnancy test to check, I thought I might had been pregnant. Came back Positive. My very first visit to an OBGYN, I had 14 days to decide weter to keep the unborn child, or not. I was brought up around a Christian family, and even THEY told me to get an abortion. I went to stay at an Uncles house, to make my decision. I made phone calls, talked to God,and never asked the boyfriend I had. It was my decision. I walked into my bedroom on the eighth day I had to make up my mind. I put on a cross necklace, and a warm 'good' feeling swept over my senses. "I knew what I had to do." Needless to say, everything went perfect with my pregnancy but the relationship with the father of the child ended quickly. I now have a beautiful blond headed blue eyed little girl. "I never thought I would make it, but the Lord gave me everything I asked Him for at my times of need."

In a perfect world an abortion would never be necessary but in the real world there are situations where a woman or girl has few other choices. Rape, incest, extreme deformities of the fetus, etc. It's a difficult decision for any woman to make but sometimes it's for the best.

Generally it depends on when you believe life begins, if it is when the foeutus can live outside the womb and survive then you might agree with abortion but if you believe life begins at conception then abortion is the sme as murder, think about when you believe life begins and it should help your views on abortion, personally i think abortion is only right if it affects the physical health of the mother, if the child will be terminally ill and have a bad quality of life, or it is a product of rape. I believe if you shoud only be in a sexual relationship if you are willing to take the consequences of a normal healthy baby.

No of course it is not "OK" as you put it. Killing is never OK. Sometimes unfortunately it may be the lesser of two evils as in the case of a rape pregnancy or in the case where a Mother's life is endangered. Please don't ever think it's OK. This is not throwing away an extra drink. This is a real life. Would it have been OK for our mothers to have done it to us?

the utmost selfish thing, huh?
what about a severe birth defect that results in the baby's bones being broken upon birth, causing internal bleeding, agony, and death within the hour? going through that once & finding out you were carrying another baby with that same defect, is it selfish to abort then?
what about an ectopic pregnancy, where the baby would not survive to term regardless, and the mother could die or have her fertility compromised, still the utmost selfish thing to do?

spare me your holier than thou attitude.
jsut because you had one & now feel it's your right to condemn others for having one, does not make you any better or any more correct in your views.

this is not a black-or-white topic. I don't think abortion should be used as a method of birth control. there are plenty of better ways to prevent pregnancy. if a woman is raped or in cases of incest or if the mother's life is threatened or sometimes the baby's life, then it should be considered. it should never be taken lightly, but considered with all the options, such as keeping the baby or adoption.

This isn't a simple question.

When is a fetus alive? Not at conception (its just a mass of cells) first trimester? Maybe.

It all depends on when/how you define the fetus as being alive as well as what factors are involved in the abortion (High risk pregnancy for example.) But I never think its something to be done without some kind of counseling (preferably the non-religious kind) before and after.

Of course! If a 14 year old gets pregnant, better to abort then to bring a child into the world who won't have a good life. People who think it's wrong know nothing about science! It's NOT murder and it's the size of a teeny tiny marble. It's an embreo, NOT a fetus when it's aborted.

It's better than bringing a child into this world that your are unable to take care of (mentally, emotionally, physically and financially).

Also, you can't expect a woman to go through such an emotional experience if she's been raped or if her father has gotten her pregnant.

Do you eat eggs? What's the difference? Those are fetuses too.

Also, none of you men have the right to an opinion -- until you can become pregnant yourself, it's not up to you (keep your pecker in your pants if you feel that strongly about it!)

Added: No, it's not the unborn child's fault if it's mother is raped or a victim of incest. But, don't you think when the child grows up and knows the circumstances of how he or she was brought into this world that they won't be angry, emotionally scarred, and possibly messed up for the rest of their life. The world has enough messed up and unstable individuals in it (that's the problem with the world today) -- emotionally unbalanced, poverished and messed up people don't like to be that way, but they weren't given that choice either to be born, someone else decided it for them. Who's paying for it now? Who's the selfish one?
