I need a little help on this. I'm currently working on an article for one of my publishers regarding baseball players that died during their careers, or careers that were cut short due to terminal illness. So far I have Clemente, Munson, Kyle, and Lidle. Any ideas on a few more?

Bobby Allison's career was cut short due to illness.

There was another Cardinals pitcher that died in his hotel room just a few years ago, I cant think of his name though.

Harry Agganis (illness).
Ed Delahanty (very, very weird story).
Lou Gehrig probably had a few seasons left under better circumstances.

In addition to the ones you named, add Lyman Bostock (shot), Chico Ruiz (car accident), Eddie Grant (killed in World War One), Tim Crews (boat accident), Jim Umbricht (cancer), Ken Hubbs (plane crash), Willard Hershberger (suicide), Steve Olin (boat accident), Chick Stahl (suicide), Dan McGann (suicide), Don Wilson (suicide), Danny Thompson (illness), Walt Bond (cancer), Harry Agannis (illness), Ray Chapman (pitched ball), Ed Delahanty (drowned), Mike Darr (car accident), Danny Frisella (vehicle accident), Addie Joss (illness), Bob Moose (car accident), and managers Gil Hodges (heart attack), Dick Howser (brain tumor), Fred Hutchinson (cancer). One might also mention umpire John McSherry, who died of a heart attack during the opening game of the season in 1996.

You have to mention Ray Chapman, the only player to be killed during a game.
