Dogs. The centre of my universe is a b!tch I got from a registered Rescue centre in england.

Latest one's having a fidget behind me as I type this. Rottweiler b!tch a client asked me to shoot. (Whoops! I forgot my rifle and turned up with a lead! LOL!) She's gorgeous.

I have another Dog being brought over from uk next sunday. He too needs a place. I feel like Schindler!

In fact, I'm just waiting on a huge payout I'm due. Then I'm going to buy an adjoining piece of land and its outbuildings, have the lot ringed with concrete footed pallisade fencing and go ballistic :D

Get paid. Buy that extra parcel of land and buildings. It'll be for the Dogs that need a safe, warm bed, a good feed and someone to wag their tails at.

At and after every Event, here in rural Eire, I see discarded Dogs who just can't meet their keepers requirements. So they get stuck in a little cage at the market and ignored by all ~ till they meet the river on the way home. Or become road kill. Or get shot for crossing a field looking for a home.

Once I get quietly set up here, they can earn their keep with a happy wag of their tails. And, hidden away where I am; No body can hear Dogs just getting on and being Dogs.

Just like my Dads set up, before me.

All but one of our pets have been rescued. The first was a feral kitten, the second an abandoned kitten, the third wasn't really "resuced" - got her from Freecycle, the fourth was a kitten left in my car at a shopping center - at least they didn't leave him on the side of the road. Oh, and our dog was not really rescued either so I guess that makes two not rescued. If I could I would take all the homeless animals home, but we just don't have the room. My dream is to be able to open a no-kill cat shelter one day. That may be problematic though as I would never want to give any of them up for adoption!

The first dog I ever had, Sasha, we adopted from the SPCA. She was about three-years-old and had been badly abused. She was terrified of trucks and men. Unfortunantly she passed away a few years ago, but the years with her were amazing.
One of our cats, Rick James, was going to be left on the street, so my brother, who was camping in the guys backyard at the time, took the kitten home. My mom was mad at first but Rick James is so cute and now her favorite.
My dog up at my dad's, Siberia, or Si, is also a rescue, sort of. The people really loved her but she didn't have good living conditions.
My horse,Socks, we bought her at an auction. Only us and the slaughter house bid on her. She'd been neglected in probably hit in the head before, based on how head-shy she was.
My dad's horse, Pawnee, has the same story as Socks. Now he's a great horse and a valued member of the family.
We rescued a buckskin mustang mare from slaughter. She was covered in scars and terrified of people.
We recently just rescued two more horses, both young horses. The first was so undernourished we weren't sure if he was going to make it. He's doing fine now. He's a beautiful black appaloosa named Seven. The other colt is a sorrel named Jimmy.
We also rescued a little kitten, named Kitty. Her owner drowned her siblings and was going to drown her before my dad stepped in.
Those are just the first of many. I plan on owning a horse rescue when i'm older.

Sorry I can't actually remember as most of the pets are rescued!
I've always had pets and Mum used to rescue too. As children we always had at least one dog, several cats and an assortment of mice, hamsters, a couple of budgies, a rabbit or two, a ferret and several rats. Since getting married 37 years ago I've had at least a dozen dogs, not counting Kittens( I used to breed Siamese Cats) about 2 dozen cats, rats, mice, and a pair of gerbils, 2 hedgehogs and 100's of fish!
At present I have a rescued dog, 2 cats, 2 frogs (somebody bought them for her son but he lost interest) a fish, (outgrew his tank and local shop asked if I'd take him) all rescued, and I've got 59 other fish bought or bred and 3 frogs and 6 shrimps bought.
The RSPCA asked if I knew anyone who kept lizards when we got the last cat and I got my nephew to take them! I don't know how to look after reptiles so I don't keep them!

I've found homes for pets for probably between 50 - 60 animals ranging from ferrets, cats, dogs, fish & rabbits.

Any time I find an animal that needs care (homeless or hurt), I look for the owner first and take care of the animal. If I can't find an owner in about a 7 day time period, I find that pet a good, loving home.

My husband calls them "my little rescue missions" because I'm always bringing animals home!

There was a little kitten lost on are street 1 night, and a bloke found it. He knocked on peoples doors 2 see if it was there's but had no luck. He got 2 are door and asked my boyfriend 2 please take it because the bloke didn't speak good English.

We put notices up in shops 2 find the owner but had no luck, so we have looked after him ever since.

We nearly had a little dog as well, but we did find the owner.

I think it is so nice to take in a pet that is lost or unwanted.

Most of our cats have been rescues, including 3 of our current 4. Last spring we lost our 16-yr-old tortie cat who showed up in my yard when she was a starving kitten--she'd been so skinny that I didn't expect her to make it.
The rescues we've adopted into our multi-species home also include 2 incredibly sweet rat brothers, 1 cgarming but quirky longhaired guinea pig & 1 cute but tempermental dwarf hamster. If you count feeder-bin animals as rescues, 2 mice & 2 rats-- 1of whom had a surprise litter (5 pups) 2 weeks after we adopted her. We've also fostered a golden retreiver, happilly reunited with his family.

in the last 30 years i cant tell you how many i've found homes for, i have been rescuing ...dogs...cats, swans, racoons, ....etc etc etc....forever...and am now studying for wildlife rehab license.
All 3 of my present dogs, ...mini poodle, ..all white mini schnauzer, and **** zue are all rescues.
I am always helping people rescue dogs and advising against pet stores and breeders.
I dont have anything against breeders in general, there are some good and def. some bad ones....
I just think rescuing is the way to go, as there are so many that need homes.
good for you!!
