I see what you are saying. I would like to help anyone in need of my help, person or animal. However, sometimes animals are easier to love than people. The same way an animal has never told anyone whether or not they were in pain, an animal has never offended someone because of their race or gender. My animals are way more lovable and respectable than a lot of people I have met throughout my life, so I see why some people would rather help an abused animal. Finally, animals CANT cry out and stand up for their right to not be abused and killed in a malicious manner, therefore they need people who can.

People suck! That's why. When has a dog lied to anyone to get it's way? When has a cat (and I am not a cat lover) ever organized a terrorist attack that killed people en mass? Animals are innocent, people are not. If a Pit Bull attacks someone, it's because someone taught it to. That Vic football player guy needs to be put under the jail for what he did to those dogs.
If a man beats his wife, she can go to the police. If a man beats a dog, who does the dog go to? Hopefully someone will find out and report the guy.
Having said that, California takes it to extremes. I remember a story about a guy who saved his house from burning because he had cleared all the dead underbrush from around his property. Then the Libs came in and had him charged with breaking a law that prohibits such actions because it interfers with the habitat of a field mouse. A mouse that probably didn't even live in the bushes he cut down. They can't cut down dead trees because of some bark beetle, then it's a tragedy when a fire breaks out and they can't control it because of the dead trees. The loss of life and property is tragic, and my heart goes out to those folks, but they need to change the dumb California laws. And only they can do it. My information on this may be outdated.
As to why it is so important now, blame the Liberals. A convicted murderer/pedofile has rights according to some of those people.
I have no compassion for humans. They have the ability to make themselves better, and don't do it. To be the "smartest" creatures on the planet, they are so dumb.

Animals are living beings just like us so why is it that you question why people care so much about the welfare of animals. It has also been proven through scientific studies that animals to have a central nervous system and therefore can feel pain just like us. People can make up their own decission but I personally love animals sometimes more than people because they listen and don't judge or interupt you, and no I am not crazy. Animals are living beings just like us and therefore should be treated as equals.

Actually there is no proof to this question its about moral caricature. I understand what your trying to say. Yes, I believe that as humans we should take care of the ones that are in need and the ones that can't speak for themselves. I believe that we should have respect for all living creatures. I have a dog that I love very much and is treated as a member of the family just as if she were my own human daughter. In fact I call her my doghter. She gives unconditional love, understands me, she is loyal and a great companion. Now I also believe that there is an order to live by where one needs to sustain for living and that is the food chain. There is also one to treat everything with respect not to mistreat and this is where I believe animal rights come in. An animal doesn't need to tell you its hurt when its hurt your soul knows through compassion, The need to help. I don't believe in (Game hunting) killing anything that is not hurting you nor hunting anything that you don't plan on eating. I also look at humans
that can't fend for themselves such as invetro unborn babies they shouldn't be killed. Some people look at that as ok. Because if they can't see it hold it feel it, then it must not be anything important enough to have feelings. Were all part of the chain of life.

People love animals because like everyone has said, they give you unconditional love, it has no limits, they will protect youi against anyone no matter who or what it is. The smallest chihuahua will jump on a six foot giant to protect you. That's why we love animals so much, and it has taken many years to realize that they deserve some of that love back.

To answer your question about pain. Scientists and doctors (Veternarians) know exactly how much pain an animal suffers beacuse they have pain measuring devices, just as they do for people. Some animals have higher tolerance and some have lower tolerance, but they definitely feel very much pain when we abuse them regardless.

We are so aware nowadays about animal rights, because aside from the fact that we love our animals, we also know that the ones out there that are being abused, don't have any form of protection, any way to protest or defend themselves against what is happening to them. Someone has to do it, people (aside from children), are being abused because they let themselves be abused, there are millions of organizations not to mention law enforecement and police who will defend and protect you against anyone trying to harm you.

Haven't you heard and animal cry. A animal will cry from just a slight injury. Their pain tolerance is no different from yours or mine. I definitely like animals more then most people I meet. They are so unconditional and loving. Even a pig, chicken, turkey, cow and so on will respond to love and affection if given it, and will love and respond to you right back with affection. They are at our mercy unfortunately and there are so many people who do not care whether they live, die suffer or starve.Take a closer look at these beautiful creatures.

Because animals are innocent and do what is natural to them. Man are the keepers of animals and we are created with evil hearts. Unfortunately, animals pay the price for human atrocities. People are evil and always have been. Who should care for those who refuse to take care of themselves.

This is also why when children get murdered, abused, raped, etc. we ask God why? But the answer again, is free will. The evil doers made the choice to harm the innocent. And any (good) person who stand aside while crime is commited on an innocent is guilty as well. The human race is doomed. Take out one guy like Sadam, and another, and another will take his place.

Sorry, we (humans) suck so much.

If you believe that humans have spirits, we animals do too. Just because something has been accepted for centuries does not make it right. Think about this and your conscience (should you have one) will lead you towards the answer.

That's because they love you no matter what you do. Animals also do not criticize people of anything. Another reason is because baby animals are helpless (same situation with babies) and most people are attracted to that kind of thing.
Overall, animals won't say mean or negative things.

Do you have any pets? Don't knock it until you acquire a pet! They are very loving and loyal. I love my animals as much as my family. They bring me great joy and love. Yes, animals in their own way can talk to you as well as you talking to them. They understand and now there are so many wonderful things that animals can do. Seeing eye dogs, dogs that can sense when someone is going to have a seizure, drug dogs, the list goes on and on. You would be amazed at therapists who use animals to benefit people who are afflicted with a disease or diability.
